When I heard that phrase for the first time in my life around 2012, I was 10 years old at that time. I discovered it through my uncle who was into emo, at first my thoughts about emo songs were boring, and I said to myself that this was not for me. My uncle started playing some emo songs and I was not really enjoying it. But guess what…

As I was growing, I started liking emo little by little. My friend also influenced me into emo, he started recommending bands such as Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, and Blink-182

MAN, IT WAS LIKE A VIRUS, I DON’T KNOW WHY I AM ENJOYING IT NOW. When I was young I thought that this was not for me. But now I can’t stop listening to them, it’s like I am infected with this genre, I also thought that maybe I should dress like emo, but then I didn’t continue it because I thought people would just tease me. And one thing that I like about emo songs is the emotional urgency in the lyrics of their songs that appeared out of nowhere.
