first of all, there is no denying how strong music is. especially a song that was about communicating the honest emotions that we all experience but occasionally find it difficult to express it. this was very meaningful to me because music has always been a source of comfort for me.
midwest emo opened doors to other alternative music genres. i fell into a whole world of music as I started to investigate the artists that impacted my favorite midwest emo bands. there was so much music out there that i would have never discovered if i hadn’t started listening to midwest emo, from post-rock to indie pop to punk. and as i continue to listen to new music today, I notice that a lot of the music i enjoy still bears the influence of the genre.
midwest emo will always have a special place in my heart. the reasons for this include the music, the community, and the way it paved the way for new types of alternative music. to my friend zandrx, thanks for introducing midwest emo to me, i love you man. midwest emo will always retain a special place in my musical journey, even as I explore new genres and musicians.
